Acclaimed Bosnian-born author Aleksandar Hemon appeared twice on WOTR, each time with deeply moving stories about Chicago immigrants based on actual events: the first (Nowhere Man, 2005) inspired by Hemon’s own life and the second (The Lazarus Project, 2008) by a 1908 murder. Hemon is also an editor, essayist, and recipient of a MacArthur Prize in 2004.
